Account

Q: What information is necessary to create an account? A: All we ask for is a username and an e-mail. No other information is needed. A password will be generated for you, which you can change later on.

Q: What happens when I create an account? A: Once you have verified your e-mail you will receive a free 60 minutes Usenet service subscription (from UsenetLink) and all information necessary to try out UsenetPlay. Once the 60 minutes trial is over you can continue using the service by purchasing a subscription (see plans).

Q: I did not receive a confirmation e-mail? A: Please make sure that you spelled the e-mail address correctly. Also check in your spam folder to make sure it did not end up there. If you are sure that you did not receive the e-mail, please contact our support with your e-mail and the account will be confirmed manually.

Q: I have lost my password! What should I do? A: At the top right corner, click "Account" and at the login page there is a form under "Lost password?". Enter your e-mail in this field and you will receive instructions on how to proceed.

Q: Can I share my account with friends? A:  Our Usenet service only works with one IP address at the time. That means, while you could share the account with your friends - you can not use it simultaneously.

Software

Q: What Operating System do I need to use UsenetPlay?
A: Currently Windows is the only supported OS but we are working on a Linux version that should come out later this year.

Q: Does UsenetPlay only work with UsenetLink Usenet service?
A: Correct, UsenetPlay only works with UsenetLink.

Q: How come your search result is missing a lot of files that can be found elsewhere on Usenet?
A: While our search engine is completely automated without any human intervention (except in rare cases where we are forced to remove content) it has a very strict set of algorithms which sometimes can be merciless to uploaded content. This is not just to get a better and cleaner result but also to protect you from malicious content.

Q: Can my computer get infected by virus when downloading with UsenetPlay?
A:  Our search engine does it best to try to remove spam result, but naturally there can be some content that slips through. UsenetPlay does not include any anti-virus software - we expect that you know how to take necessary precautions!

Service

Q: Do you save logs of what content I access on Usenet?
A: No.

Q: How much data can I download with your Usenet service?
A: You can download as much as you like.

Q: Can I use the Usenet service with other software like any other provider?
A: UsenetPlay is just a free software for any UsenetLink customer. You may use your UsenetLink subscription to access Usenet in any way you want.

Q: What is the retention for UsenetLink's service?
A: You can download content that is up to 2000~ days old.

Payments

Q: How much does UsenetPlay cost?
A: The software does not cost anything. If you are already a UsenetLink customer, you can just go ahead and download the software! Your username and password is the same. If you do not have a UsenetLink account yet, take a look at our plans. Please note that UsenetPlay does not work with any other Usenet provider than UsenetLink.

Q: What payment options do you currently have?
A: We use two 3rd party payment processors: OKPAY and PayFast. PayFast handles our credit card payments and OKPAY handles our cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin).

Q: Do you have recurring billing with creditcard payments?
A: No. Once your paid time runs out you will have to purchase a payment plan again.
